NCCE 2010 Session 4 - Moodle & Google Apps - Web based tools for the "Traditional" Classroom

Moodle & Google Apps - Web based tools for the "Traditional" Classroom

Scott Coleman (Oregon Trail SD)

Instructional design (a quality 60 year old OS) is often boring and static for students, kids want to be part of the story, not just passive listeners. The question is how do we bridge what we want (instructional design) with what they want (uh, . . . chaos?).

Kids/learners want to be a part of the educational process with mutual engagement achieved with various shared resources.

We can use moodle and google apps to support state standards, as a literacy tool, GooMoodleIkiLog (http://www.goomoodleikiog.com/) and teacher collaboration.

As a final note, most people seem to sort and group their Moodles by date . . . he recommends sorting by subject matter or state standard instead.
